This rebrand was motivated by the goal to increase visitors to the store and attract readers who had switched to buying books from online retailers. In order to accomplish this, the new identity uses the visual language of old libraries and book sellers to appeal to the experience many remember of visiting the local library and remind customers of the aspects of book buying that can not be replicated online.

LaKing's is an old-fashioned confectionery that puts an emphasis on authenticity and the tradition of handmade candy. To better reflect this, the new identity repositions the brand as one that appeals to the audience of tourists and families who are seeking both novelty and authenticity.
